SUBMITTING YOUR EXPERIENCE PROFILE

You must have gained experience within a 10-year period before and 5 years after passing the DSFP exam. Once you've fulfilled your experience requirements, your account will remain in "Provisionally Accepted" status until the final results of the DSFP exam is released to show that you successfully passed it. Upon successful completion of these criteria, this provisional approval will change to an “Accepted” verdict. Additionally, here are some useful tips for success:

Your Experience Profile will always be up-to-date with uninterrupted experience as long as you regularly use the Refresh Hours feature. This tool quickly recalculates hours from your original date to present day, so that you can continually benefit from all of your past experiences.

UPDATE HOURS

EXPERIENCE ENTERED

Until you meet the necessary amount of hours, input both your current experience and refreshment hours for your position. Assume that this information is accepted unless otherwise notified. Certain types will be reviewed promptly or require further proof of qualification.

EXPERIENCE SUBMITTED

Once you complete your required hours, click the 'Submit' button that will appear to enter and submit your experience. Upon submission, each of your experiences entries will have a status update of either Accepted, Pending Verification or Provisionally Accepted.

EXPERIENCE STATUS TERMINOLOGY

The terms below will help you understand the status of experience that has been submitted and entered.

DATA INPUT

Once you record an experience entry, it is immediately marked as Entered. You can then edit or adjust hours up until the necessary number of hours is reached. Unless otherwise indicated by the system, assume that your experience has been accepted and will be counted towards your total required hours.

ACCEPTED

Once you complete the necessary hours and select “Submit,” your entries will change to “Accepted.” In the case that you have not passed the DSFP exam when clicking submit, your entries are marked as "Provisionally Accepted" until successfully completed.

VERIFICATIONS

If you have gained experience through Internship, indirect support, self-employment, pro bono or volunteer work, then they must be verified before they can be accepted. Furthermore certain other types of experience may randomly require verification as well in order to become recognized.

INTERNAL REVIEW

Certain experience entries will prompt an automatic internal review. These reviews are generally finished within 3-5 business days, and you'll be informed as to whether the experience is accepted or denied, or if more information is needed.

VERIFICATION OF EXPERIENCE BY CMSSA

When your job entry is marked as “Pending Verification,” a verification request has been emailed to the supervisor or qualified attester you identified. This includes confirmation of the position details such as start date, end date (if applicable), hours worked per week and financial planning processes that have been utilized. An attestation request will be initiated when one or more of these conditions are met:

  • Indirect Support, Self-employment, Pro bono or Volunteer Experience: For the hours reported under these categories, we must verify their accuracy. After you enter your data, a attestation request will be emailed to the supervisor or qualified attester that was identified by you.

  • Standard Pathway and Teaching: After you meet the criteria and press the ‘Submit’ button, we may randomly select some of your entries for verification. In case yours is chosen, we will email a confirmation inquiry straight to the supervisor that was specified in your profile.

"VERIFICATION APPROVED"

"VERIFICATION NOT RECEIVED"

"VERIFICATION WITHHELD"

Upon confirmation of the entry, its status will automatically be set to either “Provisionally Accepted” or “Accepted.”

After you submit the pertinent information, CMSSA will reach out to your supervisor or qualified attester with a follow-up request. If after 10 business days, no response has been received from them still, then CMSSA will inform you of what needs to be done next - these steps are determined on an individual basis for each case.

When your supervisor or qualified attester is not comfortable providing verification, CMSSA will immediately contact them and then follow up with you to develop a plan of action. How we proceed in these cases depends on the individual circumstances.
