FAQS FOR DAY OF EXAM

  • WHAT TO BRING TO THE EXAM

To the exam site, you must bring both of these items. 1 ID 2. Calculator

A valid and current government-issued ID with a photo, for example a driver's license displaying the same name that was used to register (nickname variations such as Catherine to Cathy or James to Jim are allowed).

All students are required to bring one or more battery-powered financial function calculators, not to be programmed, which comply with the Calculator Policy.

During testing, you are only allowed to utilize an approved calculator. All other electronic devices must be stored in your locker and kept out of reach until the exams have been finished. Additionally, you can bring food and drinks (including water) as well as notes with you; however, only water will be  permitted inside the exam room. You may store the rest in your locker for your breaks scheduled into the examination period.

  • KNOW WHAT CALCULATOR TO BRING

For testing, only permitted calculators are allowed. All other electronic devices must be securely stored in your locker and kept out of sight until you have completed the exams. You can bring with you food, drinks (including water) and notes; though only water is acceptable to take into the exam room itself. The rest may be put away in your locker during one of the allocated breaks throughout the examination period.

To master exam questions requiring calculations of the time value of money, unequal periodic cash flows and internal rate of return (IRR), you'll need a specialized financial calculator to assist.

    View approved calculators here.

Before the exam begins, all calculators will be examined by a Test Center Administrator. It is your responsibility to reset and clear the memory of your calculator before each session - please do not ask them for assistance in doing so. After they have cleared its memory, you must ensure that it has been reverted back to your desired settings.

Before taking your calculator into the testing room, be sure to cover any notes or formulas printed on its back with solid-color tape. Additionally, you can bring extra loose batteries (without their original packaging) for use during the test.

  • CHECK-IN PROCESS

    CHECK IN PROCESS:

Verifying your identity and upholding the security of the exam is paramount during check-in at the testing center. You will be issued a locker key so that all personal items can be safely stowed away, ensuring nothing interferes with taking the test.

After safely storing your belongings, you will be asked to present a valid government-issued photo ID and have your fingerprints scanned and photograph taken. Additionally, before beginning the exam, you must verify nothing is in your pockets while being thoroughly checked with a portable wand (similar to those used at airports). Your calculator of choice will also need to pass inspection per our policy guidelines, as well as have its memory cleared prior to entering the examination room.

    AFTER YOU HAVE CHECKED IN

After you've completed the check-in process, a Test Center Administrator will take you to your assigned workstation. To make it easier for you during the exam, they'll provide a whiteboard and noise cancelling headphones upon request. Any notes that have been made must remain in the exam room - security is our top priority and all exams are actively proctored with video camera surveillance which records digital videos until after results are released officially.

  • BREAK POLICY

    TAKING THE EXAM AND BREAKS

Before you can begin the exam, you must acknowledge that any sharing of questions with anyone other than CMSSA is strictly forbidden. Any violation of this agreement may have serious consequences, such as monetary restitution or even criminal prosecution under copyright law – not to mention permanent disqualification from taking future exams offered by CMSSA. Once all these conditions are met, feel free to take your time and work through the exam at a pace which suits you best.

If anyone, including a review course provider or academic program, requests you to divulge the contents of any exams under CMSSA's jurisdiction, please report it immediately. The examination period starts as soon as the first query is posed.

    EXAM SCHEDULE & BREAK

The exam will be split into three one hour sections, and you are given the opportunity to take a "Optional Unscheduled Break" at any point throughout your assessment. Please note that should you decide to pause for this break, the timer counting down your remaining time won't stop during it. After finishing each subsection of the examination, you will no longer have access to previously answered questions.

  • FINISHING THE EXAM

You can submit your exam for evaluation prior to the 3-hour window terminating. After you have submitted, a prompt will appear asking "Are you certain that you wish to proceed with submitting your exam?" When Yes is confirmed, there's no going back - so make sure that it's what you want before continuing! A survey will then follow and soon after this process ends, preliminary results shall be provided onscreen along with an email from the administrator containing a copy of those same outcomes.

Once you've concluded the exam, return to the Test Center Administrator and retrieve your personal items from your locker. As an additional step, don't forget to hand in the key before leaving!
